Ellen Wood is a finance professional with a depth of experience in entrepreneurship and mentorship. After several leadership roles in real estate and telephony firms, including two startups, Ellen co-founded the financial consulting firm, vcfo, in 1996. Headquartered in Austin, TX vcfo provides an integrated suite of finance, HR and recruiting support, including outsourcing and consulting solutions that improve operational performance and optimize productivity. vcfo pioneered the concept of the “Virtual CFO” with its original and ongoing core offering of fractional or part-time CFO solutions. For over 20 years, the firm has worked with more than 4,000 clients, evolving the service offerings and geographical footprint to include Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Denver, CO. to meet new industry and market needs. At vcfo, the mission is always to make client companies stronger.
Ellen is an active member of the community and recently served as the 2017 Chair for the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce and the Chairman of the Board for University Federal Credit Union (UFCU), 2015-2017. She currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of Austin Area Research Organization (AARO), member of the Supervisory (Audit) committee of UFCU, advisor to E3 Alliance, Vice Chair for Global Innovation and Technology for the Austin Chamber, the Treasurer for the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas, and as an Advisory board member and past Treasurer for the Capital Area Boy Scouts board. She is the past chair of the Central Texas RCIC, former member of the Seton audit committee, former local and state President of TeXchange, and was a winner of the Austin Business Journal’s Profiles in Power Award. Ellen graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Texas CPA.
